Thoughts for Parents on Home Biofeedback Training

Thoughts for Parents or Adults on
Home Biofeedback Training Your Child or Yourself

Here's what we recommend for parents considering home biofeedback training

1) Have your child evaluated by a professional biofeedback practitioner. to determine your child will benefit from biofeedback

2) You are working with your child's brain. Buy our 13 hour EEG Biofeedback Foundations Video Course, so you'll have a basic understanding of the principles and processes of neurofeedback. Watch it.

3) Get a computerized Biofeedback training unit. Consider purchasing Futurehealth's exhibit hall video, which shows demonstrations from our annual meeting by many manufacturers.

-Lower cost units include Brainmaster and Waverider.

-Procomp with Biograph is our Top of the line unit, which most practitioners use.

4)go back to the practitioner and have the practitioner help you devise a training program (electrode placement, prreward and inhibit protocols) for your child, based on your child's needs. Have the practtioner show you how to hook up the electrodes and assess whether you have good signals or artifact.

5) Keep in touch with your practitioner, using him or her as a supervisory resource, so you keep on track.

6) We can recommend a few people who do remote and internet training supervision.

7) If you are considering doing home alpha/theta training for substance abuse, alcoholism or trauma... don't!! This protocol should only be done under the close supervision of a psychotherapist.  This is not the same as personal growth exploration of alpha or theta training.
