The A-I combines EEG biofeedback and HEG biofeedback. EEG biofeedback uses electrical signals generated by the brain to train cognitive response to stimuli. HEG biofeedback uses light signals to measure relative levels of oxygenation of blood flows in the brain & to train elevation of these levels.

Use it as...

  • a Walkman - feedback is chimes & tones
  • a DVD remote control - feedback is control over 'play' & 'pause'
  • a Pod - acquires eeg & heg signals for PC-based biofeedback software: BioExplorer

Set EEG protocols for a range of up-training, down-training and ratio protocols, independantly for each channel. Operate either one or two channels EEG/HEG, or both simultaneously.

For EEG, pure silver electrodes. Ear-clip electrodes for neutral & reference electrodes, and conventional cup electrodes for the Active1 and Active2 electrodes. To operate one channel, the Active2 electrode is not used. Also configure a one channel ‘bipolar montage’ (ie the difference between the Active1 and Active2 electrodes). Touchproof electrodes? An adaptor is available. For HEG biofeedback, a special HEG headset is supplied as an optional extra.

And use Binaural Beats to promote relaxation & release of tension. ('Binaural Beat’ presents a tone to one ear which is at a slightly different frequency to the tone presented to the alternate ear.)

Choose from a large number of Presets, simplifying operation whilst allowing users to override, making the unit very flexible. Save your settings as one of three User-defined Presets. EEG protocols, HEG fine tuning, audible feedback mechanisms, and binaural beat sessions may all be programmed by the user.

Monitor progress both within a session (by visible displays of recent history), and from session to session (by time & date stamped records of session variables).

And more....

  • automatically detect corrupt signals including
    • EMG ‘muscle’ artefact  (in the band 100 to 200Hz)
    • EEG electrode offset voltage
    • EEG low signal  (excessive 50/60Hz interference)
    • EEG excessive signal  (likely displacement of EEG electrode)
  • seek out benign 50/60Hz environments with a special 'divining' mode
  • inject randomised noise as a EEG/HEG signal (for blind studies or demos)
  • select Automatic Level Control  & auto-scaling of displays
  • select ‘anti-pinking’ filters for flattening the spectrum of EEG signals
  • set the real-time alarm clock: timer shut-down/power-up
  • 7+ hours continuous operation with 2 x AA NiMH rechargeable batteries
  • reprogram the firmware by downloading a file over the net

Two measurement points allows discrimination of Neutral & other electrode impedance.
Measurement range Sum of each of electrodes in series with Neutral electrode < 256K W in 1K W steps. (eg if Neutral electrode is 50K W , maximum measurement for other electrodes is 205K W )
  Accuracy: Reference electrode Uncal: ± 3K W ; Cal: ± 1K W
